Tapan
God Knows
Centred around producers Neboja Bogdanovi and Goran Simonoski, Tapan have developed a distinctive musical language over the past decade, drawing together slow-burning electronics, jazz improvisation, live percussion and psychedelic atmospheres. Rooted in Belgrade's club culture, their music has always occupied a space somewhere between the dancefloor and more open-ended forms of listening, unfolding patiently through repetition, texture and improvisation. Across four extended pieces, 'God Knows' pushes further into this territory. Electronic rhythms and dubwise low-end provide a loose framework for an expanded group of musicians, with Pavle Popov and Vukain eli on guitars, Jamal Alkiswani moving between saxophone, flute and zurla, and Fea Franklin and Marko Milivojevi adding layers of drums and percussion. Rather than separating electronic and acoustic elements, the album allows them to bleed into one another, creating a dense, constantly shifting sound world.
