Straf Vocal Strings
Tread Softly
With the album Tread Softly Straf Vocal Strings opens the door to a completely unique sound world. The group combines vocals and strings into a one-of-a-kind quartet, weaving voices and instruments together into something both fragile and powerful. Rooted in the groundbreaking vocal ensemble Amanda from Gothenburg, Straf Vocal Strings has developed its own genre-bending musical language, moving freely between chamber music, folk, contemporary pop, and improvisation. Here, texts by Inger Christensen, Tomas Transtromer, and W. B. Yeats meet music by Elise Einarsdotter, Stefan Forssen, Philippe Kadosch, Sten Kallman and Arthur Russell, side by side with Billie Holiday and Goran Bregovic. The group's own innovative arrangements and original works written specifically for the ensemble come together to form a multifaceted and poetic program.
