Spangler, Mark
Long Story Short
Mark Spangler is best known as a member of Johnny & The Distractions, the seminal Portland band that built a rabid regional following in the 1980s and recorded for A&M Records. His new CD is classic American rock n roll with a distinct Northwest flavor: powerful guitar playing, and fresh songs that linger long after the last chord has faded. Long Story Short was produced by Gregg Williams, known for his work as a producer and/or drummer with artists such as Sheryl Crow, The Wallflowers, Dandy Warhols, China Forbes, and others. The record features a stellar cast of players including Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper), Denny Bixby (Rodney Crowell, Buddy Miller), and Courtney Von Drehle (3 Leg Torso). With its blend of roots rock soul and pop savvy, Long Story Short showcases a musician and songwriter at the top of his game.
