Soolmaan
Kashgul
Bringing sound tableaus that float freely between the Bosphorus and India, Soolmaan weaves flute, sax, ney, cello, piano, and tamburello into an imaginary folklore infected by jazz. Their new album, Kashgul, created during Driessens residency at the Concertgebouw of Bruges, interweaves original compositions with reimagined classics from Ravi Shankar and Amjad Ali Khan. Spanning influences from Ottoman makam to Indian raga, Kashgul is a vibrant, boundary-crossing soundscape rich with improvisation.
