Silly Not Silly
SNÜFF are one of the brightest names to emerge from the Italian ROK scene in recent years. From the first time we met at Hit Mania Rok '24, it was clear there was something special going on. About a year later, we nally saw them live while playing records at an event curated by Wilson from Bee Bee Sea. Not on a proper stage, but inside a packed screen-printing workshop, with people dancing shoulder to shoulder and that familiar feeling of things happening for real. Halfway through the set they played a new song. It instantly became everyone's favourite. After the show, they handed us a demo of their new songs. On cassette. It couldn't have gone any other way. Silly Not Silly is the second LP from the Italian power trio SNÜFF, written over years of intense touring. The album explores love, pain and the outcomes of personal and collective journeys through life and relationships, with direct and unltered lyrics. Built on the classic chemistry of a power trio, the record moves between elastic grooves, sharp dynamics and memorable melodies. The sound is both essential and imaginative, shaped by inventive arrangements and the interplay between male and female vocals, shifting from intimate passages to more abrasive edges. The minimalism and roughness of The Velvet Underground and The Vaselines meet the pop instinct of The Beatles, alongside the off-kilter tension of bands like Pixies and The Breeders.
