Debut album from Hamburg indie rock band schluma. The quartet combines a cross-generational approach to guitar music, blending lo-fi indie, emo, punk, and discourse rock. With a mix of keen observation, humor, and emotional directness, the 16 songs on "Heulen am Wasser" (Howling by the Water) tell stories of quirky characters and encounters from everyday university life. The band draws inspiration not only from early Tocotronic records but also blends this sound with the jangly emo of Anda Morts and the pop-aesthetic beauty of Echt!. schluma are considered leading figures of the Neue Hamburger Schule (New Hamburg School).
