Schifrin, Lalo
Ins And Outs And Lalo Live A
Lalo Schifrin has combined the results of two separate quintet recordings to remind his listeners that before the many film and tv scores, his masterminding of "Jazz Meets the Symphon" series, and his many classical works, he was and always has been a jazz pianist. The moods and flavors show the wide range that we have come to expect from Schifrin's work, both in playing and composing, and the musicians surrounding him are among the world's finest jazz players. "Ins and Outs" was recorded in Hollywood in 1982, and "Lalo Live at the Blue Note" was recorded twenty years later at the legendary club in New York. All the influences are heard in this album - the Latin rhythms, the years he spent with Gillespie, and some work from his years as a film composer.
