Ranglin, Ernest -trio-
Guitar In Ernest (clear)
Born in 1932 Ernest Ranglin is one of the greatest session players in the whole history of Jamaican music. His guitar appears in countless recordings of artists like Alton Ellis, Jimmy Cliff, Bunny Wailer, Max Romeo Skatalites, Heptones, Congos, you name it! Produced by Chris Blackwell and released in 1961 on Island Records "Guitar in Ernest" reveals the Jazz side of Ranglin's playing. A fine album where the guitarist's sophisticated phrasing and soulful chords shine on a relaxed swinging rhythm groove provided by Thad Mowatt on double bass and "Tootsie" Bean on drums.
