I've Got To Know
U.Utah Phillips weaves an incredible life experience into musical stories. He learned the art from his warehouse boss as he told yarns to avoid work.These yarns came from conversation with Native Americans, cowboys,hobos as well as inspiration from pacifist Ammon Hennacy or gospel great Marion Anderson, all of which helping to round his incredibly colorful persona. Utah ran away from home in his teens to acquire the ultimate road education-riding the rails with tramps, supporting himself with odd jobs and learning guitar. He became a political activist, always in support of the downtrodden. In 1997 he received a lifetime achievement award from Folk Alliance and a lifetime service award to labor from the American Federation of Traveling Musicians. He also did a collaborative album and tour with Ani DiFranco. I've Got To Know features the sum of a lifetime of amazing experiences from the legendary song-smith, U.Utah Phillips
