P, Charlie
Roots
Charlies father and uncle fell into the reggae cauldron by discovering the sound system sessions oflegends of the genre such as Channel One, Jah Tubby or Jah Shaka in London in the 70s and then inoculated the virus to the young Charlie by playing vinyl on the soundsystem in the living room of the family home in Southend-On-Sea. Listening to Dennis Brown, Ranking Dread, Hugh Mandel, Johnny Osbourne among others, he definitely fell in love with reggae. Whether it was during his early days with the Goldmasters AllStars or after when he immersed himself body and soul in the sound system culture, his foundations are based on this discovery of the basics of the genre. After spending more than ten years in the sound system scene developing and refining his inimitable style, mixing singing and Jamaican DJing, it was time for him to return to his ROOTS with a pure reggae album.
