New 52, The
Let Me Sleep
Darragh Cullen has been playing music since he was eight years old and has been in a several bands including Fire Souls and Pedro For President. This is the debut album from his The New 52 project, named after a run of DC comics. Prior to this Darragh has released two solo albums and views "Let Me Sleep" as a reaction to the last of those albums. That album was entitled "Whispers & Silent Screams" Darragh wanted a long, sprawling album and consciously experimented with letting the arrangements dictate the song-writing. He ended up with 14 songs, all varying in length, genre, structure. With "Let Me Sleep", in an effort to try something new he decided to go in the opposite direction, making a much shorter album of just nine songs, but with a very focused approach to the song-writing, hence this time each song was crafted to be well-structured, direct and to-the-point. The album is produced by Boo Hewerdine, and Darragh plays all the instruments on the album, except for Gustaf Llunggren who supplies pedal steel on Good Intentions and Song For Sara, along with baritone sax on Lie To Yourself, Chris Pepper is on percussion on Good Intentions, snare on Manhattan and Casio keyboard on Lie To Yourself and Boo Hewerdine supplies backing vocals on Good Intentions and Manhattan.
