Murgia Trio, Gavina & Michel Godard & Patrice Heral
L'ultima Mattanza
Gavino Murgia is a saxophonist and a proud Sardinian. He drew inspiration from his islands colourful traditions to create a vivid, groovy and atmospheric album, which he has titled "LUltima Mattanza". Two long-standing musical partners accompany Murgia on this musical journey of discovery through Sardinia: Michel Godard (tuba, serpent, electric bass) and Patrice Heral (drums, electronics, vocals). "Lultima mattanza" is an album about the sea. A thousand-year-old story of sublime power, vulnerability, abuse, but also beauty and grace. Gavino Murgia, Michel Godard and Patrice Heral weave their musical webs with voices, instruments and even silence, exploring the sea around Sardinia and St. Pietro, the small island in the south-west whose capital, Carloforte, has become the symbol and centre of Sardinias tuna fishing tradition . Tradition and grooving jazz, woven into an artful musical arc that tells the story of this great tradition.
