Minor Dents
Sitting With The Fish
Minor Dents are a propulsive kosmische trio from Brighton with Holly Finch on vocals and bass, Ryan Bollard on drums and Al Strachan on keys, cornet and electronics. They have drawn comparisons to Broadcast, ESG, Young Marble Giants, Add N to (X), Pram and Silver Apples, and a recent live show inspired music writer Everett True to describe them as, "Mesmerising so tuneful and ecstatic and utterly immersed in the splendour of discovering new sounds, new corridors, new repetitions." Their debut EP 'Sitting with the Fish' was released on Rose Hill Records in January 2026, and is being expanded into an LP on the Italian label Disasters by Choice, due for release on October 20th 2026. The trio started playing together in 2022 and had a long gestation period: they would meet and make music every Friday evening for at least a year without feeling a pressing need to book gigs or record, essentially to let the music emerge in its own time. They were invited to play Lewes Psychedelic Festival in January 2026, and released their debut EP on the same day as this show. The album was recorded and mixed at Church Road Studios in Hove, by Julian Tardo (Insides). About the musicians Al Strachan has spent over 25 years as an active musician in Brighton's various alt-folk, psychedelic, experimental and improvised music circles. He has played on over 80 record releases in that time, with groups such as Crayola Lectern, ZOFFF, Hamilton Yarns, Oddfellows Casino and ChopChop. Holly studied Music at Falmouth university, Cornwall, and Philosophy for two years in Sheffield. She has a background in jazz singing and was a member of Hastings' experimental music collective Column258, before moving to Brighton in 2022. Ryan also drummed in Column 258, and has played in numerous groups such as The Creaking Chair, Reds Collective, Kosmos 954 and Seadog.
