Mingo, Nicola
My Sixties In Jazz
Mingo's guitar favours a warm sound that may even remind one of Wes Montgomery, thanks to the sporadic use of a few 'octave' phrases, as well as constant recourse to that blues cell that underlies this music. In essence, a glimpse of the past that, personally, reminds me of one of the possible examples of a jazz neo-classicism still to be theorised.
