Imagine a rainy and monotonous autumn day in Paris making the heart sad and dull, or the heavy-drinking sailors in the Amsterdam port whose lust of love translates into nothing more than short-lived minutes in the bed of a prostitute. In her second album, Angelica Matveeva returns to her musical roots and gives a tribute to French chanson. With her trio she interprets the jazzy tones of Charles Trenet and Charles Aznavour, and continues with more classical chanson icons such as Edith Piaf, Yves Montand and Jacques Brel. The result is a mix of joy and passion, reaching from lighter pieces of chamber jazz to melodramatic stories bigger than life
