Massimo Urbani Quartet
30
Exactly thirty years after his death, listening to this unpublished recording made at the Tavernetta in Via Sampieri 3 in Bologna, Massimo Urbani resurfaces from oblivion to show us his greatness. On that 15 December 1982, the saxophonist gave those present an unforgettable evening together with Tonolo, Riccardo Zegna, Luciano Milanese and Gianni Cazzola, respectively on tenor saxophone, piano, double bass and drums. That evening returns to us a lucid, incisive, inspired Urbani, capable of improvisations that are now torrential, now emotional, often in complete freedom of expression.
