For their fourth CD, the Austin-based Lucky Tomblin Band continues to deliver the perfect soundtrack for a Texas Saturday night, as great for listenin as it is for dancin. Led by Luckys lead vocals, the band boasts a veritable whos who of Austins finest musicians: Earl Poole Ball on piano, Redd Volkaert on lead guitar, Sarah Brown on bass, John Reed on guitar, Jon Hahn on drums and Bobby Arnold on rhythm guitar. Produced by Lloyd Maines (who also adds his trademark pedal steel guitar), Honky Tonk Merry Go Round contains 14 tracks of pure Texas dancehall music poured straight in a glass chock full with roadhouse energy. The new CD delves into the honky tonk songbook that includes originals as well as songs by such noted writers as Mel Tillis, Hank Cochran, Floyd Tillman and Jimmy Davis, Willie Nelson and Bill Anderson.
