Long Square
Even A Single Lumen
Long Square is a group of four gentlemen that vary slightly in age, height, and facial hair style. They mostly wear hats, glasses, and earth tones from the darker end of the spectrum. They have made an album of music that looks back at the second-wave Midwest-emo on which they were raised, and looks to the future with a wild surmise and one squinting eye. What started as a conversation in a bar about a potential tribute band became two years of creating original music and performing live. Each of these musicians have spent three decades with their instruments. Ben enjoys audio engineering and film making. He plays a Fender guitar very proficiently, and sings most of the words in these songs with a gruff tenderness. Eric has been getting good at speaking Swedish. He enjoys architecture, and seeing the corners of things erode. He is a fantastic guitar player, idea-mill, and twinkle daddy. He sings a few words in a few songs with urgency and intent. Michael enjoys motion graphics, family life, and word play. His unique style of bass performance marries counter-melody to the root. He sings a few words in a few songs- strongly and sweetly. He was also the prom king of his high school. Ryan likes to ride his bike and play miniature golf. He plays drums like he doesn't actually like doing anything else. "Even a Single Lumen" was recorded at High Bias Studios in Detroit, MI with production and engineering by Chris Koltay. Mastering was done by Warren Defever at Third Man Mastering.
