Even after 30 years, Kontrast remain a black beacon in the vastness of the musical ocean! Back in the twilight of 1996, four sonic alchemists created their "Everblack"the track "Einheitsschritt" ("Three steps forward and three back"), an irresistible anthem for dance floors across the independent scene. A procession of club hits followed: "Tod ... find' ich gut!" (1998), "80er Jahre" (2007), and "Durchbruch" (2008) their first number one on the German Electronic Web Chartswhich shook dance floors like a sonic golem breaking its chains. The album *Vision und Tradition* (2008) also reigned at the top of the GEWC for weeks. "John Maynard" (2014) shot through the German Alternative Charts like a phantom aboard a burning ship. The resurrection of their debut album, *Kontrast: Programm* (2022), also captured the number two spot, once again shaking the foundations of the DAC. Their new album, *Imperium*, is a monumental display of power; released via the storied label Danse Macabre Records, it appears as two separate vinyl LPs (Part 1: *Tyrannis*; Part 2: *Proteus*) and alternatively as a packed CD containing the complete worka release that has been casting its massive shadow since the autumn of 2024. With their titanic track "Tanzmaschinen," Dirk, Falko, Roberto, and their charming "fog spirit" stormed to number one on the DAC. Simultaneously, "D3r Diktator" climbed to the top spot on both the DAC and GEWC, executing a diabolical double maneuver that also secured Kontrast the coveted Christmas number one spot! These singles were nothing short of the perfect heralds for 'Imperium'a (double) album that stormed the bastions of the music world.
