Winter 2020-21, Krakow: a city of 700,000 inhabitants completely in darkness... in full lockdown, where a curfew was in force as on nights of war. Closed shops, deserted schools and offices, jazz clubs where no one plays... in Krakow, renowned for its dedication to African-American music, where until recently rhythms and melodies full of meaning resonated! It is from this idea of emptiness, darkness and silence that Aldo Joshua's desire to start writing new music again, playing it and recording it to convey his feelings of anticipation and hope was born.
