Illuminate
Grenzgang
They are one of the founding fathers of dark and discerning German-speaking music. Illuminate have been enriching the gothic scene with their melancholic and melodic soundscapes and their velvety black poetry since 1993. Even when caught in the crossfire of the critics, the band project centering on songwriter and singer Johannes Berthold has always remained true to its vision. The romantic rockers have always known they have the talent of immersing emotions buried deep in ones soul in bright light. With "Grenzgang", Berthold has once again created a bittersweet memorial for the senses - with elements of classic and romantic piano passages as well as with danceable rhythms, heavy guitars and crisp drum sounds. A concept album divided into three chapters ("Neubeginn", "Krise" and "Katastrophe"), and which also includes the first DVD of the southern German group in a limited edition: almost four hours of previously unreleased material from close to two decades make this release a must-have for all lovers of romantically dark music.
