Silver Jubilee Conceert
Begun in 1977 by the Urban Council, the HKCO was funded and managed by the government, becoming independent in 2000. Repertoire includes traditional and popular pieces, commissioning numerous works by local composers from Hong Kong to Chinese composers. It was awarded for "The Most Outstanding Achievement in Advancing Contemporary Chinese Music" by the International Society of Contemporary Music.
