(2-CD set) During the war years, New York attracted tens of thousands of Blacks from the piedmont of the Appalachians. They brought with them the blues from these regions, quite different from those of Mississippi or Texas. During the forties they developed a remarkable style of blues which had difficulty in penetrating the Harlem cabarets, dominated by jazz and Rhythm & Blues, so it found its place in the progressist and intellectual folk movement of Greenwich Village. This boxed-set covers the strange adventure of the New York down-home blues during the 1940-50 period. Includes a 32 page booklet with both French and English notes.
