Fourth Wall, The

Memories Of The Future

With their fifth album, Memories of the Future, The Fourth Wall create a haunting sonic landscape of a future in crisis. Inspired by thinkers like Mark Fisher and Frederic Jameson, the nine songs explore the dwindling ability to envision a livable futureand the psychological tensions that arise from it. Recorded in Portland's urban upheaval, the album reflects the atmosphere of decay and new beginnings: abandoned industrial buildings meet the beginnings of gentrification. This backdrop shapes the sounda blend of detached soundscapes, gritty guitars, and angular synths. The songs oscillate between nostalgia and escapism: while "City Lights Receding" captures the longing for a lost past, "Kármán Line" speaks of a radical desire to break free and the search for meaning in spectacle. On Memories of the Future, The Fourth Wall combine indie rock with conceptual depthan atmospheric album about stagnation, overstimulation, and the question of what remains of our dreams for the future.
