Filistin

Fingers Crossed

because of Filistins background as half swedish, half palestinian, (her father was born in Palestine) the arabic- and oriental music has inspired her a lot. You can say that she grew up in a home filled of music. There was always something on the recordplayer, wether it was arabic singers like Oum Kalthoum and Fairouz or Favourites of the 70s - 80s - and 90..s like Madonna, Abba, Michael Jacksson, or old Motown-tracks that was her mothers favourites. In Filistin..s music these factors, learned by her sources of inspiration, are combined and forms a part of what Filistin..s music stands for and means. Sensitive in a way, expressed both by music and her two instruments; her voice and her synth which has both followed her throughout the many years. Filistin started to write songs for an album in 2007 together with her mother. Not a quite common kind of team, but in their own oppinion "a perfect match." To get that extra funky sound they choosed to cooperate with two of the most successful hip-hop-producers in Sweden: The two brothers Salla and Masse Salazar. This album defines all of what Filistin has learned and been inspired by in the many years she has been involved with music. A result, created with an unique and special sound, influenced by different styles of music. What enticed Filistin to create her own Album was her desire to be able to say something important, regarding both small and big issues in life and to give her own interpretation of all this through her passion for music. After six months of recording in The Salazar brothers studio in Stockholm, this is the result: An album with a mix of all that, but still something that can only be expressed as: ten songs filled with just that typical Filistin-sound.
