Favre Trio, Pierre
Bird Food
Recorded live at Radio Studio Zurich on February 19, 1968, Bird Food predates the Pierre Favre Trio's first official album (Santana, 1968) by seven months, making it the earliest known recording of this historic trio. The tape remained in Pierre Favre's archives until he and Samuel Blaser recently rediscovered it. The trio consisted of Pierre Favre (drums), Irène Schweizer (piano), and George Mraz (double bass)a Czech musician who would later become a sought-after sideman in the US for Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Stan Getz, and Tommy Flanagan.
