Elusive, The
Sometimes Sounds Collapse
The Elusive was a Washington, D.C. post-hardcore band that formed in the summer of 1997 from members of Corm, Jenhitt, and the Tilden Shirtwaist Fire. The quintet played only a handful of shows with peers- Arm, Braid, the Challenger Commission, Compound Red, Franklin, Frodus, the Get Up Kids, Joan of Arc, Kerosene 454, Proudentall and others -before breaking up in April 1998. Months earlier, the Elusive recorded Sometimes Sounds Collapse, documenting all six songs written during the band's brief tenure. Released on CD by Shute Records in 1998, the EP has been out of print for years. Following the breakup of the Elusive, members John Davis and Chris Richards immediately co-founded the band Q And Not U (Dischord Records).
