Dirk Jan Muller has had an interest in '70's German underground music since 1988 and his passion for bands such as Amon Drine Dream, Nektar, Neu and Can resulted in his collection synthesizers, keyboards, amps and various pieces of '70's musical equipment. From his home studio he released a couple of underground tapes of electronic music which began to circulate on the cassette network (Octopus's Garden and Time Signals) until in 1992 a UK company called Electronic Dreams released Time Signals. Meanwhile Dirk began work on the debut Electric Orange album bringing in a number of other musicians and a wealth of instrumentation such as hammond organ, sax, flute, assorted percussion, samples and electric guitars and By March 1994 the German underground electronic label Manikin had released the album on CD. Called simply Electric Orange it was a stunning mixture of early '70s Kraut Rock and psychedelic space rock styles but with a totally modern sound, updating the genre with new technology and production values.
