Damiani, Paolo
Ostinato
The ostinato is a recurring motif. A persistent motif, a trace that cannot be erased. In music, it is a short rhythmic or melodic phrase that repeats itself, often played by the bass, and which, through its constant reappearance, generates movement, deviations and possibilities. From this idea, *Ostinato* takes shape: a sonic edifice to be traversed, a landscape of fullness and emptiness, of open rooms and secret passages. The music advances and retreats, loses itself and is rediscovered, following paths that seek not a destination, but the very experience of being lost.Paolo Damianis compositions are conceived as devices for the unexpected. Each score holds a question rather than an answer, an invitation to linger in uncertainty, to let the sound find unexpected paths. What emerges is not a quest for control, but a willingness to encounter: the unknown, error, and the unexpected.
