Songs Of A Sad And Beautiful World
In 2021, Moïra Conrath set off for three months in a van with photographer Loïc Jaspard, travelling across the Balkans to fuel her creativity. From Northern Italy to Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Sicily, she wrote one page per country eight pages for eight future songs. Their challenge: to return with a musical travel diary and a collection of photographs, weaving into the compositions the sounds recorded along the way (wind, markets, local music). Back in Paris, Moïra continued the project in the studio with guitarist and composer Laurent Avenard Kohler. Together, they crafted a strippeddown, organic sound (voice, guitar, percussion) infused with the soundscapes captured during the journey. Each track carries its own intimate and haunting atmosphere. The album, deeply personal and rooted in self-rediscovery, also celebrates the bond between music and image, born from the artistic dialogue with Loïc Jaspard.
