Ellebore
Ellebore is a journey through memory, tradition and creation. Following Belladone, Cissy continues her exploration of an organic, contemplative folk music inspired by Celtic and Scandinavian worlds. The album blends original compositions, traditional songs and medieval Nordic poetry set to music. Some songs tell stories of the distant past, cultural transformations and the Christianization of Scandinavia, while others explore feminine intimacy, transmission and the bonds between generations. Among the historical texts is a rare medieval Norwegian poem attributed to a female skald of the Xth century, an exceptional testimony to a woman's voice within the Nordic literary tradition. The album also features traditional Swedish, Scottish and Irish songs, bringing different Northern European oral traditions into dialogue. Carried by delicate acoustic arrangements and evocative vocal harmonies, the songs of Ellebore celebrate the enduring power of stories passed down through time and music's ability to keep ancient voices alive.
