Bullfrog
Live At Rockpalast
In 1978 Bullfrog once again toured across Germany and the bordering countries. Final concert of this tour was a recording for Rockpalast Television on December 6th, 1978, in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. On stage the hardrock carousel turned around voiceful singer Gerd Hoch, his voice was THE trademark of Bullfrog. On guitar, Sebastian Leitner, who was able to get everybody on his feet. Haralt Kaltenecker on Keyboards impressed the characteristic sound of the group with his scratchy-dirty sound of organ, clavinet, and synthesizer. On top the all-out rhythmband with bass player Robert ,Topsy" Wimmer (also producer of the 2nd vinyl ,High in Spirits") and drummer Achim Wielert (former EPITAPH and BREAKFAST) who rounded up the Heavy sound. Bullfrog presented the most popular songs of all their albums on stage of Rockpalast Unfortunately that night there was a complete breakdown of the monitor system during the whole recording. A real nightmare on such a huge stage like Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. The musicians could not hear each other and the singer could not even hear his own voice.. Against all odds the concert was a success because there were many positive feedbacks by phone at WDR. Especially the song ,L.A. Police No.55", which tells a story about bankrobbing, was requested by the tv-viewers. Thus the title has been played in addition to the usual repeats on January 7th, 1979, during a Rockpalast Festival
