40 Years of Raw Rockin' and Achin' Backs Forty years. Fifteen songs. One hell of a ride. Brioles celebrate four decades of raw rockin' with XL, a very special album built from the songs that have accompanied, influenced, haunted and inspired the band since their beginnings. This isn't simply a collection of covers. These are songs that form part of Brioles' own history. Some have been with them almost all their lives, some came and went from their live set over the decades, and others had never been played by the band before but every one of them has left its mark on their music and their story. When recording the album, the band even made a point of barely revisiting the originals, allowing forty years of Brioles attitude to take over instead. And what a selection: from "Cretin' Hop", "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White", "No Feelings" and "Police on My Back" to "Drifting Heart", "Raska-Yú", "Down in the Cellar" and "As Tears Go By" songs coming from very different places, but all filtered through Brioles' own unmistakable sound. There's even "When a Zombie Cries (I Walked With a Zombie)", described by the band themselves as a kind of "half-cover", while "Bo Was Right (Pretty Thing)" closes the record as a raw bonus track recorded at the rehearsal room
