Aubaile, David -et Frederic Deville-
Dolce Ostinato
Piano meets cello in an intimate encounter, with David Aubaile (piano) and Frederic Deville (cello) writing a truly readable and positive music. The sweet song of "Dolce Ostinato" borrows from the voluptuous curves of classical music, drawing on its timeless forms to open up emotion. The melodies are intimately mixed with a solid rhythmic orchestration, anchored at the crossroads of their parallel paths. David Aubaile is a self-taught pianist while Frederic Deville has classical cellist background. The second is invested in contemporary creation while the first practices jazz and its derivatives. They both dare jazz with odd and Mediterranean rhythms, chamber-music-like rubatos, from pictorial melodies to sound frescoes. A classicism saturated with colorful and iconoclastic musical elements, sometimes anachronistic, gathered by their two wandering lives. The challenging mixing of their universes brings us to an unexpected elsewhere, gently but resolutely "dolce ostinato".
