Athens, Sean
Time
Sean Athens is no stranger to the music scene. At the age of 14, he was already on stage with the boy band Kixs in the former Color Line Arena (now Barcleycard Arena) at The Dome 43. However, he quickly realised that this whole boy band hustle and bustle was not for him and that his heart beats for blues and rock. He then worked his way through various bands and accompanied musicians such as Thomas Godoj (DSDS), Steffi Stefan (Udo Lindenberg), Jini Meyer (ex-Luxuslrm) and Peter Freudenthaler (Fools Garden) as a sideman, to name just a few. Athens then met blues harp player Chris Kramer in 2016 and the power trio Chris Kramer & Beatbox 'n 'Blues was born. After winning the German Blues Challenge in Euan in 2016, they travelled directly to the southern states of the USA for 2 1/2 weeks at the beginning of 2017 - to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. After their success in the USA, where the band made it through to the semi-finals, they went on to tour Germany, Norway, Denmark, Spain and Switzerland. In 2018, the trio won the German Blues Award for the best blues album. This was followed by a concert as support for the master himself, Mr Billy F. Gibbons from ZZ Top and The Supersonic Blues Machine. Athens can now look back on a considerable number of gigs and kilometres, both nationally and internationally, and three albums released with Chris Kramer & Beatbox 'n 'Blues.
