Undeservedly overlooked, Apart occupies a special place in The Apartments' important discography and appears on Talitres.This album was first released in 1997 by the Australian label Hot Records and marks the beginning of an extended hiatus. It contains some of the finest sonic gems written by Peter Milton Walsh. In this work, piano, trumpet, strings and synthetic beats emerge and allow the electric guitar to discreetly disappear into the background. Instrumental haikus and subtle jazz influences can be found everywhere. The dark and captivating rendition of Baudelaire's poem "To the Reader," translated by Robert Lowell, is at the heart of the album
