In recent times, interest in Karlfeldts work has surged, and following a Grammis nomination for "Dansband Album of the Year 2025," he is perhaps more relevant now than he has been in a very long time. For more than a century after those words were written, we still face the same spring. The same autumn. We fall in love, experience loss, yearn, and start anew. Singer and composer Nina Akerblom Nielsen releases her fifth album on October 23. Here, she interprets ten of Erik Axel Karlfeldts poems set to her own music, joined by some of Swedens foremost musicians. Like Karlfeldt, Nina draws inspiration from the proximity to nature in her creative work; she herself cannot imagine leaving the wonderful country home where this album came to life. In Karlfeldts poetry, nature is never merely a backdrop; it lives alongside the people. His work embodies a love for the forest, the earth, the flora, the changing seasons, and his native region. Karlfeldts nature is sensual and tangible, yet rich in symbolism. - Spring and autumn as metaphors for life and death are recurring themes in his poems." And surely, no Swedish poet has portrayed romantic love quite like him.
