Truth In The Abstract Blues
Mike Cooper is one of the authentic figures of the british music scene. A pioneer of the 60s british blues boom and one of the few who actually had the chance to play with delta blues legends such as Son House and Fred Mc Dowell. Through unorthodox and unconventional musical approaches, such as free improvisation, free jazz and extended electro-acoustic techniques he has developed an original "deep blues" language. With "Truth In The Abstract Blues", Cooper's slide guitar and vocals are joined by the uniquely broad free-style percussion of Fabrizio Spera and the entrancing voice of Leila Adu. A trip into the depths where the timeless classics of blues legends such as Skip James, Bessie Smith and Robert Johnson meet unconventional sound layers, loops, drones, electro-acoustic textures and minimal grooves. a dense and profound first album and a tribute to those who first showed the way towards the truth in the abstract and the blues.
