Abozekry, Mohamed
Roh El Fouad
Roh El Fouad - Soul of Heart After several collaborations mixing jazz and traditional and contemporary Arabic music, the French-Egyptian musician and composer Mohamed Abozekry signs his fifth album: Roh el Fouad. For the first time, he presents himself as a singer, and makes the voice and the oud dialogue. The Soul, the place, or love, is it the same thing? Roh El fouad, (Soul of Heart) poetically explores our emotional and geographical attachments through the texts signed by Mohamed Abozekry in collaboration with Omar El Ayat and Kerdani. In this new opus, the oud player crosses oriental vocal songs and a fundamentally jazzy instrumental composition. After years of experience, the titles of this new album demonstrate a maturity and a prolific and luminous musical research. On the oud, Mohamed Abozekry nimbly develops different playing techniques such as bass slapping and harmonic guitar arpeggios. His sound is unique, as a soloist as well as accompanying the musicians of the sextet.
