1 - DIE KRUPPS - V - METAL MACHINE MUSIC - (CD)
OBLIVION

Mastermind Jurgen Engler is a visionary who has had a lasting influence on the music landscape for decades. In the late 1970s, he was among the first German punk rockers with his band Male and took Campino (lead singer of German million sellers Die Toten Hosen) on tour with him be- fore Die Toten Hosen were even founded. In the eighties, he formed DIE KRUPPS, who went on - together with his congenial partner Ralf Dorper [PROPAGANDA], who has also co-penned countless lyrics since "Wahre Arbeit Wahrer Lohn" - to be a driving force of the industrial and EBM movements. When this scene was taken over by the mainstream in the nineties, the group from Dusseldorf integrated tough thrash guitars into their sound and became, along with Nine Inch Nails and Ministry, the most important source of inspiration in the electro metal genre and also influenced numerous bands of the Neue Deutsche Harte (New German Hardness). It is this successful phase (keywords: "Fatherland", "To The Hilt") which DIE KRUPPS bring back to life with their latest release "V - Metal Machine Music", taking up where their "IV - Paradise Now" album (which was not numbered at the time of its release) had left off, following their fairly electro machine-heavy "The Machinists of Joy" recording which saw the light of day less than two years ago. The title "Metal Machine Music" has appeared before in the DIE KRUPPS discography: once on their same-named maxi single with Accsser and once on the 1981-1991 compilation, which featured the titles German version. Jurgen Engler doesnt mind. >The title is so succinct that the new album just had to be called "Metal Machine Music"! The name stands for the ultimate symbiosis of electro and metal, the way Ive always had it in mind.< The artwork with its apo- calyptic man-machine theme, reminiscent of "Mad Max", is a perfect complement. No doubt about it - this albums sees DIE KRUPPS not only follow in the footsteps of their successful electro metal phase of the mid-nineties, it also sees them go even further in terms ofsheer toughness!

2 - M.I.N.E - UNEXPECTED TRUTH WITHIN - (CD)
OBLIVION

File under: Electro Pop / Synth Pop / CamouflageEvery beginning holds its own magic! And it really is the magic of new beginnings, together with the extensive experience and great musical skills of all the musicians involved that makes Germanys new electro pop trio M.I.N.E stand out among other acts. M.I.N.E consist of Camouflage vocalist Marcus Meyn, Fools Garden guitarist/composer Volker Hinkel and drummer/keyboardist and pro- ducer Jochen Schmalbach (Madonna, Depeche Mode, A-ha. among others). Meyn, Hinkel and Schmalbach have worked together successfully for a number of years. Hinkel played the guitar for Camouflage for the first time on their Sensor album (2003) before going on to tour with the group on a regular basis. Schmalbach joined the fold back in 2001 as their live drummer. Both feature on Camouflages 2015 Greyscale album as co-producers and co-authors. M.I.N.Es debut proves that the mix of Meyns charismatic voice, his two band colleagues Hinkel and Schmalbachs musical, compositional and production skills and all three band members keen sense of haunting melodies and gritty arrangements works all the way. Among the 12 tracks, there will be the odd track that would also have suited Camouflage. Meyn: "If I listen to a song like Dangerous I can see a number of parallels. On the one hand it brings to mind Road to Now- here by Talking Heads, only our song sounds more demanding, darker and more mysterious compared to that monotonous 80s flair." The same applies to Things weve done with its spherical electro vibe and pulsating groove." By contrast, M.I.N.E have expanded their stylistic range, as The One with its strong guitar riff proves. The most unusual track on the album also surprises with a very special atmosphere: written and composed just before the studio recordings commenced, was the piano ballad A World without a Smile which impresses on three levels with Meyns emotional vocals and a short acoustic guitar sequence.
